We set out from Bujumbura in a van to travel to Muyinga, a small village in the northeastern corner of the country. I had absolutely no idea what to expect. In 2005, God birthed the vision for FAMA Ministries in my heart. It was one of the lowest times in my life. I had just fled my native country with my family because of the tribal wars. I was a particular target. I had already barely escaped with my life in 1988, 1996, and 1998. In 2004, I fled my homeland for the last time in horrendous conditions. I had only $50 in my pocket because war had exploded around me while I was in church. We left everything behind to save our lives.
